Vienna, Austria / world today news/ A hitherto unknown work by the famous Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was discovered in the city of Tyrol, reports ITAR-TASS, referring to a statement by the Mozarteum International Fund, which is based in Salzburg and has the most the great collection of Mozart’s works.
The find was made by staff at the Tyrolean Institute for Music Research at the University of Innsbruck.
While cataloging the manuscripts for the International Catalog of Musical Sources, a handwritten sheet music notebook was discovered that researchers dated to around 1780.
In it, one of the Tyrolean sheet music scribes recorded a piece for piano which, according to the unanimous recognition of musicologists, “belongs unequivocally to the young Mozart”.
