Its authorship has been categorically confirmed by experts from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Until then, the painting was believed to be the work of an unknown artist. The work is called “Le Blute-fin Mill”. To prove the authorship, the specialists examined the structure of the canvas, the type of paints, some peculiarities of the writing, as well as the dimensions of the picture.
The painting was purchased by the museum’s founder Dirk Hanem in 1975 at a price equivalent to 1,000 euros. Until the death of the owner, the work was kept in his personal collection. After that, it became the property of the museum.
