The final evening of the Miss Czech Republic contest was full of surprises. Instead of Andrea Kaplanová, who won the competition, in the spotlight, the girl in second place, Julie Hojdyszová, attracted attention. For the first time in the Miss Czech Republic contest, she decided to give up the crown to her. Her beauty revealed what made her do it.
The coronation ceremony was not without its shocking moments. When Julia Hojdyszová’s name was called when second place was announced, the girl reacted differently than many might have expected. Instead of joy and thanksgiving, she decided to relinquish her title and handed the crown for second place to Pavlína Jágrová, who originally placed third.
“All my life I have dreamed of running for Miss and that it would give me a stronger voice and speak up on issues like anorexia and bullying. I hoped that through this I would guide and inspire people to stand up for themselves, what what I did thanks to the competition, I found an audience that would listen to me, and that’s why I felt it was time to go one step further and pay attention to these people”, explained Julie Hojdyszová to the TN editorial team .cz.
“At the moment, I would like to dedicate myself to a UNICEF charity project that helps children in developing countries with vaccinations. I also want to dedicate myself to studying, which has always been my number one priority. I also want to dedicate myself to modeling, but the beauty contest was probably the last icing on the cake, which made my dream come true,” added beauty Frýdek-Místek.
Even for the director of Miss Czech Republic, Nikola Kokyová, the girl’s resignation came as a big surprise. “Julie commented last night that the competition helped her find herself, and she realized that she wanted to go in a different direction in her life,” said Nikola Kokyová, winner of the competition in 2019.
“I have no idea what exactly changed in her, for all six months she worked perfectly and professionally. It was a big surprise for me as well as for the audience present in the hall. The motto of the competition is ‘Become whoever you want”, that’s why we don’t insist that girls follow the designated steps,” explained the director of Miss Czech Republic.
“I will wish Julia all the best for the future. I just said that I was a little disappointed that we didn’t know before,” confided Nikola Kokyová with his little disappointment and wished the girl good luck.
