If you have never heard of the Chinese manufacturer Avatrthis is quite normal, because the latter has not set foot in Europe for the moment, but it will not be long. This one was actually born from the cooperation between three giants of the automotive and tech industry, namely Huawei, but also the battery specialist CATL as well as the Changan brand.

A new SUV to overshadow Tesla

Still relatively unknown, Avatr already sells two models, the SUV “11” and the sedan “12”, displaying a very high-end positioning. But now another car has come to enrich the catalog. This time it is the Avatr 07, which again takes the form of a raised car. In fact, the latter had already been shown a few months earlier, but at that time the manufacturer had not been very talkative about it. This is now the case, since The SUV starts its marketing.

For now, the latter has not yet revealed its prices, but the range should start around 250,000 yuan, or approximately 31,800 euros. A price that will be revised upwards in Europe, due to the increase in customs duties decreed by Brussels. But in the meantime, what do we know about this new arrival, which risks giving the Tesla Model Y cold sweats? It adopts a style very close to its big brother, with rounded lines and a front face sporting an easily recognizable light signature.

On on the Weibo page Officially, Avatr specifies the dimensions of its new 07, which measures no less than 4.83 meters long for 1.98 meters wide and 1.62 meters high. The design was designed to improve aerodynamics, but the Cx (drag coefficient) has not yet been communicated for the moment. In any case, the silhouette is very massive with its roof line which remains particularly straight. The rear part is intended to be imposing and it is equipped very thin LED lights which overflow on the sides.

Customers will be able to choose between 20 and 21 inch rimsas well as five body colors according to the brand website. The newcomer to the range is also very spacious, with its wheelbase measuring 2.94 meters. But the most impressive thing is its incredible driving position, which gives pride of place to technology. We find in fact a huge 35.4-inch 4K screen which extends across the entire width of the dashboard. This acts as a instrument cluster and also displays images from the rearview mirror cameras.

Multiple versions in the catalog

And large 15.6 inch touch screen identical to that of the BYD Seal 06 GT completes the whole for the driver, who takes his place like his passenger in massaging and heated seats. In addition, the car is also equipped with a sound system with 25 speakers. However, the trunk volume is still unknown at the moment. We should know more about it in the coming months. But what interests us most is what is hidden under the hood of this newcomer on the market.

The latter is available in several versions, 100% electric or with a range extenderas well as with two or four-wheel drive. In its pure zero-emission (exhaust) variant, the SUV has a power of 342 horsepower while the all-wheel drive version has two engines, 255 and 342 horsepower. 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.9 seconds. All this is associated with an LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery supplied by CATL but whose capacity is unknown.

The maximum autonomy is announced at 650 kilometers CLTCor approximately 552 kilometers with WLTP approval. The Avatr 07 is equipped with an 800-volt architecture for fast charging, while the latter is carried out at a maximum power of 420 kW. But the time needed to fill the accumulator has not been specified for the moment. We do know, however, that the electric SUV is also equipped with semi-autonomous driving thanks to a LiDAR sensor installed on the roofIt remains to be seen when it will arrive in Europe, but there is no doubt that it will not be long.
