Laboratory studies may be required:

on fungi (sowing, PCR);

for herpes viruses (PCR);

bacterial infections (culture, PCR);

skin biopsy for histological confirmation of the diagnosis (if necessary);

thyroid hormone tests;

vitamin A levels.
A complete blood count may also be ordered, for example, to detect anemia. You may need to do a test for syphilis, and it is recommended to immediately test for HIV and hepatitis B and C viruses.
After the diagnosis, the doctor may refer the person to other specialists to establish or exclude concomitant diseases.
