“We had noted an uncertain shortness of breath in making appointments since the start of September and at the same time we recorded at the beginning of October a really marked increase in orders, particularly for this blood type”, explains the spokesperson at Héma. -Quebec, Laurent Paul Ménard.
According to the CIUSSS, surgery had to be postponed to La Malbaie Hospital in connection with this phenomenon. The establishment reports that “this postponement was of no consequence, since the user involved has already obtained his surgery and left the hospital, without any other complications”.
“Fortunately, these are exceptional events, we had to deal with this situation during the month of October,” said Mr. Ménard.
Héma-Québec therefore launched a cry from the heart in the hope of receiving 400 additional donations every day.
“They answered the call and immediately we saw the positive effects in the collective reserve of that but the work is daily it is important to remember it because every day Héma-Québec needs 1000 donations of blood on a daily basis ”points out Patrice Cantin, collection organization advisor at Héma-Québec.
Moreover, the message still resonates with Charlevoix residents who came on Friday.
“In Charlevoix, collections are still performing very well,” says Laurent Paul Ménard.
At 4:51 p.m. Friday, a few time slots were available either in Baie-Saint-Paul or Clermont. However, Héma-Québec is confident of achieving its goal of 200 donors.
