American BMX cyclist Connor Fields is out of danger, although he has a cerebral hemorrhage.
He is the champion of the discipline from Rio 2016.
Fields fell in the first corner of his semifinal series and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Tokyo after receiving on-site assistance.
The sight was very scary, but for Connor, the worst was in the past because of the rapid medical intervention.
“Doctors found Fields had a brain hemorrhage. He spent the night in the intensive care unit, and doctors were able to stop him and found no more injuries. Fields was moved to a hospital room and will remain there until he is discharged. “, reports the American Cycling Union.
Connor’s father, Michael Fields, told US media:
“He knows who he is, he is oriented, he remembers his birthday and he is somewhat communicative. The incredibly quick intervention of the Japanese doctors saved him. I thank them from the bottom of my heart!”
