Anthrax was found in the municipality of Zavet, Razgradsko
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) identified a case of the disease anthrax in an unregistered livestock facility in the village of Brestovene, Zavet municipalityreg. Razgrad.
The object was reported to the 24-hour telephone line provided to citizens by the Agency. An inspection was immediately carried out by inspectors from ODBH-Razgrad. Samples were taken, and one of the animals was diagnosed with anthrax.
By order of the director of the ODBH-Razgrad, Dr. Varban Belchev, a primary outbreak of the disease has been declared.
The municipal epizootic commission will carry out observations on the health status of all susceptible animals kept at the site. Vaccination will be done to all susceptible and unvaccinated by 19.08.2024. animals raised on the territory of the village of Brestovene.
Anthrax is an acute infectious disease of animals and humans, known in the past as “blue pox”. Under natural conditions, all herbivorous and omnivorous animals, and sometimes carnivores, are affected. The most sensitive are: goats, sheep and deer, then cattle, buffaloes, camels, horses.
If animal disease is suspected, owners should immediately contact the farm veterinarian. He must notify the district veterinarian who will arrive for an inspection.
