According to a UFC rumor, Bonnar died of heart problems. The incident occurred while he was at work. However, this is not official information.

Stephan Bonnar was one of the most important fighters to ever fight in the Octagon,” added UFC President Dana White.
Bonnar competed on the 2005 first season of The Ultimate Fighter where he made it all the way to the finale. He then lost to Forrest Griffin, but their fight made UFC history. He also gave Bonnar the opportunity to sign with the organization.
In his career, Stephan has come up against names like Jon Jones, Mark Coleman, Krzysztof Soszyński, Igor Pokrajac, Kyle Kingsbury and Anderson Silva. His UFC record was 15-9-0. He announced his retirement in 2012. A year later, it was announced that he would be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
