There was not a single head of state who did not try to find the most original ways to talk about the crisis of solidarity between nations, the serious problems caused by the expansion of the pandemic or the imbalances in the world order. But the President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, made the most literary speech – full of metaphors, historical references and images about his country’s suffering under the weight of the sanctions imposed by the United States “in spite of the United Nations Charter, he stressed”.
