The specialist explained that the eyes capture light through cones that are of three types, animals, on the other hand, do not have that variety.
“This is the situation of the dogs, which also have only two types of cones. ” This same situation occurs in colorblind people who lack a cone or have a variation in one of them.
The study was endorsed by the University of California, United States and it is argued that dogs can see some colors.
Instead of seeing the rainbow as violet, blue, teal, green, yellow, orange, and red, dogs would see it as dark blue, light blue, gray, light yellow, dark yellow (coffee-like), and very dark gray. “
As a peculiarity, Stanley Coren indicated that orange or red are just very popular colors in pet toys, but they cannot perceive them.
“This means that the bright red toy that is so easy for you to see can be difficult to distinguish for the dog,” he concluded.
