Back then: Ten years ago, Simon Keller from Hemberg brought his new theatrical prank to the stage
From times gone by – the Toggenburger Tagblatt publishes events from times gone by every week. What happened in Toggenburg a hundred, fifty, twenty or ten years ago?
7. November: St.Peterzell. St.Peterzell is one of the few towns that has neither a hydrant system nor a water supply. The village corporation, newly founded in 1922, has now taken the matter into its own hands and there has already been great progress. Three developed projects were presented to the general meeting. The administrative board of the village corporation had submitted a report in which it requested a loan of 1,000 francs to create a precise plan and cost estimate as well as a return calculation.
Strong opposition came from circles already fortunate enough to have their own domestic water supply. Attempts were made to thwart the matter using unfounded reasons. In the vote, however, the report was approved by a large majority. So we would happily have taken the first step.

7. November: Toggenburg. Major Hans Stamm, commander of Füs Bat 82, not only had his 500 men complete a patrol run, but also combined this with local knowledge. As an eyewitness, I immediately saw that the soldiers were having a chat and learned in a friendly way that it is not just performance that counts, but also practical geography about an area that might have to be defended against an enemy tomorrow. The audio picture show on the pits was excellent; It took about a quarter of an hour to show beautiful Toggenburg. There was a short lecture on the Yberg, presented by intelligence soldiers.

5. November: Ganterschwil. The decline in primary school pupils cannot be stopped over the next five years. The school board informed about the situation. As everywhere in rural areas, the number of students in Ganterschwil is constantly falling. This development prompted the school board to adopt basic class planning that is designed for the long term.

2. November: Lichtensteig. The young Hemberg author and actor Simon Keller has so far shone primarily in comedic roles – with the Hemberg youth theater association and in “Rente gut – alles gut”. He is bringing his new short drama to the stage at the Chössi Theater: It takes place after a nuclear power plant accident. “AKWhat?” goes in the direction of: political scenario, existential despair, moral ambivalence. “I wanted to find out how a person feels when they realize how much they have done wrong and how far they would go for a second chance,” says Simon Keller.
