Stem maker Lab is a workspace for young girls likely to foster female innovation. It allows young girls to engage in computer science, robotics, 3D printing and leadership issues. This structure was set up by the executive director of Dinexafrica, Koné Fognon Maïmouna.
The Minister and Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, Fidèle Sarassoro, believes that this is an initiative that allows former young girl leaders of tomorrow. He also suggests that this initiative will help to somewhat resolve this divide that exists in the field of digital science and technology.
“We support her and are behind her. We want to tell him to persevere because it is a noble initiative that will allow young girls to one day be able to become scientists and contribute to the development of this country” he declared, not forgetting to provide advice to the beneficiaries of this stem. in these terms “I would like to tell young girls not to be afraid, to embark resolutely on learning about science and technology”.
Godmother of the ceremony, the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck expressed the avant-garde spirit of this project. “What appealed to us is that it has already reached the next generation with an extremely ambitious program and support project for young girls so that these young girls can embrace scientific careers,” she indicated.
She also did not fail to tell the young girls of this center that they are “extremely privileged to have a mentor who fights” for their future.
Abobo, the target
Between 200 and 300 girls have already benefited from Sterm Makers lab programs, said executive director Koné Fognon Maïmouna. This center offers high school and college girls a 6 to 9 month training that will allow them to have skills in web development, 3D printing, robotics.
In addition, a capacity building program for IT tools for young women was added to this ad hoc sessions on productivity tools on leadership issues. A program called les pépites des stems has also been launched for children who are in primary school.
“We set up this lab so that it would benefit the girls of Abobo, but it is not excluded that we open our programs to other young people who come from elsewhere. But primarily it is open to young girls from Abobo. They are chosen by joint agreement with the heads of the partner schools. And also those who are interested in the thing,” said the executive director.
It should be noted that Dinexafrica works in 10 zones, of which 3 zones implement these different programs. They are Abobo, Korhogo and Sinématiali,
