“I did this for the children of the village and those around. It’s a way for me to bring back joy and happiness. We really need it right now!“, says Patrick. The beast alone weighs 80 kilos, not counting the sled. It took Patrick a week to make this decoration. “It is only recovery. The chair that makes the sled is given to me by someone, I personalized it “.
The reindeer is all wood. A special wood since it is that of the witch tree. “In the 17th century, a bishop of Beauvais, who had a second home here in Villers, set out on a witch hunt. Local people accused of witchcraft are hanged from this tree “, relates another municipal councilor, Guillaume Bernardin.
This legendary chestnut tree fell this summer. “Finally my chainsaw is my magic wand. I turned witches into reindeer“, smiles Patrick.
But this legend does not scare the inhabitants, happy to see these decorations. “It is generous to do this. There are people who want to do beautiful things for the village, that’s very good“, explains one of them. Patrick will continue to do “beautiful things”. He plans to add a creation each year for the holidays.
