In just thirty-six hours, Santiago Maratea, influencer and youtuber famous for his solidarity collections, managed to raise more than 155 million pesos, or nearly 1.3 million euros, for the province of Corrientes, plagued by devastating fires for nearly two months. In 2015, Santiago Maratea, “who always dreamed of being famous and escaped from college to run castings” published his first video on YouTube, says the Argentine daily The chronicler, which portrays the 29-year-old influencer.
Today, he has more than 6 million subscribers between his various networks, and owes his fame to the success of his fundraising campaigns for solidarity causes.
There was, among others, that of the “Emmita” case, a little girl suffering from spinal muscular atrophy, for whom he collected last year almost 2 million dollars, approximately 1.8 million euros, intended for the purchase of a very expensive drug.
This time, it is for the province of Corrientes, which has suffered terrible fires since the beginning of the year, threatening its ecosystem of marshes particularly rich in biodiversity, as well as its crops, that Santiago Maratea has mobilized his community.
