An inevitable face-to-face with the police

It’s a feverish start to the week that those involved in political life are experiencing. After the hectic weekend we experienced, we are entitled to wonder what events will follow one another. The collective of candidates affirmed that the days that follow will be decisive and that they will raise the current tension a notch. To do this, certain members participated in meetings to prepare for this descent on the May 13 square. The police camped all day yesterday in front of the town hall and intend to block all access routes to this legendary square.

The various speakers at the Antsonjombe rally raised their voices last Saturday. They said it was now time to take the next step in the protest. After the various judgments issued by the HCC, the collective of candidates believes that it was time to take a new step and no longer be content with peaceful marches. To show his determination, he decided to take over the May 13 square this week. We know, however, that for those in power, this is a step that must not be taken and, as of yesterday, it showed its determination to prevent this objective, by putting the maximum number of law enforcement officers on site. The mobilization of demonstrators in recent days shows that they are now ready to challenge the authorities. The collective of candidates is perfectly aware of the risk presented by the descent towards town hall. But the movement’s strategists began to prepare their action plan. This is the reason why certain members were not present at the head of the procession which went from Mahazo to Ambohimahitsy. Negotiations with different entities have certainly been intense. The risk of confrontation with EMMONAT is serious. But it is determined people who are sure of their rights who will be present. Face-to-face will be inevitable.
