An Indian child swallows a light bulb Mixed

Ammon – A child living in Chennai, the regional capital of Tamil Nadu state in India, suffered a serious health problem after swallowing a light bulb from a toy car. Which caused him to be trapped in his lungs for about a month.

According to a report from The Time of India website, the child’s mother shifted him to Sri Ramachandra Hospital, after he had breathing problems, and after two days of treatment, doctors were able to remove the lamp successfully.

The doctors indicated that the child was suffering from breathing problems and coughing due to the presence of a foreign body in his lungs, and they tried to remove it using a bronchoscope, but to no avail. Which forced them to go to open surgery to remove it.

“The parents were told that open surgery was the only way to remove the foreign body,” said Dr R Madhu, an expert in pediatric surgery.

He continued: “We knew the foreign body had to be removed immediately, as it could lead to airway obstruction, damage to lung tissue, as well as increasing the risk of infection, ” and indicated that they were willing to risk another bronchoscopy.

He said, “We explained to the parents the problems that could happen, and if we don’t get the graft, we might have to do open breast surgery. “

Doctors first reached the glass side of the lamp, and had to carefully turn it without breaking it to reach the metal side, so they could pull it out.

The lamp was also carefully cleaned after the arrival of the doctors, and several surgeons and anesthesiologists participated in the operation.
