An improvement of 32 places! A quick run? I was just a passenger on skis, laughed Štvrtecký

Oberhof (from our correspondent) – He has already proven several times that he can achieve excellent results, especially in the sprint. For example, when he became junior vice-champion of the world three years ago, or most recently at the beginning of the season at the World Cup in Hochfilzen, where he shone in eighth place.

In Oberhof, he did not fit into the nomination for the mixed relay, so he had all the more motivation to perform in the opening individual race of the championship. “Of course I was sorry I didn’t go, that’s why I wanted to perform well today,” he nodded.

He was successful in that, he flew the track. The runner’s time was the seventh best behind only the Norwegian quartet and two Swedes. “I had a really good run, but I was just a passenger on skis and they were so good that I drove myself,” he modestly highlighted the merits of the service.

“All you had to do was go up the Birgsteig and it would slide down to the shooting range by itself,” he mentioned the dreaded long hill in the opening part of the circuit.

Other Czechs were able to praise their skis as well as their running form, Adam Václavík was ninth fastest in the cross-country section, Michal Krčmář fourteenth. “I already said at the beginning of the season that Kuba, Adam and I are physically very similar. We drive around each other in fifteen seconds, which tells us how ready we are for winter,” nodded Krčmář.

He was at the finish six tenths earlier than the 24-year-old Štvrtecký, who, however, completed one more penalty round with three shooting errors. However, mistakes were generally made more often on a shooting range shrouded in fog.

“Fortunately, it was the same for everyone. Other times it happens here that there is a thick fog, suddenly the wind blows it away and it’s clear,” recalls the biathlete nicknamed Čtvrtek. “It’s true that towards the end of the shot we almost didn’t see the target, I thought it was quite close. But maybe if it was clear, I have a shot for four,” he smiled.
