While both new consoles (Xbox and PlayStation) are diligently expanding their playlists with enhancements to play games from previous generations, many fans of the latter have been asking questions about improving one particular title over the past six months. Now they’re finally here and can repeat Ellie’s journey for revenge in a new quality: the main improvement is the ability to play at 60 frames per second, but of course the PS5 also benefits from higher resolution or faster recording. You can also look at the new one trailer.

On the official blog PlayStation community director Naughty Dog, Arne Meyer, commented:
The year 2021 has been amazing so far, as The Last of Us Part II has won over 300 awards for the game of the year, an unprecedented performance. We are very grateful to our community for your tremendous support over the past year, including your vote, which also won us the Game of the Year award in the BAFTA EE or Golden Joystick category “Ultimate Game of the Year”. We received a ton of fan letters about how important this series was to you, and we were amazed by the excellent fan drawings, cosplay or tattoos you shared with us.
One of the most frequent requests from our community was the release of a patch for game performance on the PS5.
Well, that day has just come and you can download the patch for free right now!
Once you have patch 1.08 installed on your PS5, you’ll find settings in the Display Options that allow you to choose between a target fluency of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. You’ll be able to choose your preferred smoothness to complement the rest of the enhancements provided by PS5 backward compatibility for PS4 games, such as higher resolutions, faster recording times, and so on.
Our team has explored the possibilities of PS5 hardware and the possibilities that have unlocked us since last year’s release, and we are excited about what the future holds. This patch is only the first step in our work with the PS5. We’ll let you know when we have more news to share.
