Great news for employees and employers willing to fund them meals at work. From March 1, the family ministry radically increased the limit of employers ‘subsidies for employees’ meals with its ordinance – now the amount of up to PLN 300 of such subsidy is exempt from ZUS contributions; previously, only 190 zlotys were not contributed. As a result, employers will be more willing to use subsidies for meals as a form of employee benefit. As the experts calculated, the annual savings due to this change for the company and the employee due to exemption from contributions amounts to as much as PLN 1,426.51. All this means that the PLN 300 subsidy for meals for an employee may be this year’s hit among employee benefits.
On March 1, an amendment to the ordinance of the Minister of Family and Social Policy enters into force, according to which the amount of exemption from contributing to subsidizing meals for employees has increased significantly – up to PLN 300 per employee per month, which is almost 60% of the increase. Employers and employees have long waited for the indexation of the amount, which has not been increased since 2004.

In the era of inflation and a difficult market situation, the introduced change also brings tax benefits. As calculated by Sodexo experts, the employer will save up to PLN 740 per year on social security contributions per employee. The employee himself also gains – savings of up to PLN 690 per year. In total, it is even PLN 1,430 per employee.
