A resident of Plovdiv, who posed as an MP and defrauded dozens of people, was arrested during a police operation.
Sergey Dimitrov was detained after a number of reports of fraudulent schemes by victims. The role he entered was that of a deputy of leading political forces, who has many high-level connections, including with the resigned Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.
The prosecutor’s office informed “Maritsa” that Dimitrov’s detention measure has been extended to 72 hours. The data indicate that the alleged MP used various schemes to benefit himself. He offered a variety of services, flaunting connections with political leaders. His image was extremely credible, especially when he promised to build roads, remove garages, fix lots for a hefty fee.
Work on the case is still in its initial phase. All the schemes that Dimitrov applied to the scalded victims are still being established. According to his latest schemes, four victims have been identified. They have already been questioned. However, there is another case against him, where there are also many victims. It is likely that the fraudulent schemes will be refined and consolidated into a single case against the alleged MP. Most of the cheated are from “Stolipinovo”. A quick look at Sergey’s social media profile shows that he has gone to great lengths to maintain his fake role. His arrest was carried out yesterday by employees of the “Economic Police”. The prosecutor’s office is expected to present detailed information on the case tomorrow.
