While it is already the most represented country in number of races, the United States would like to host a new Grand Prix. After Miami, Las Vegas and Austin, the city of New York is a candidate for the organization of a round of the F1 world championship.
Eric Adams, mayor of New York since January 1, therefore contacted Greg Maffei to offer him a site capable of hosting a race. A proposal that Greg Maffei, the boss of Liberty Media, the company that owns F1, would have refused.
I think the reality is that city racing in a place like New York is just very, very, very difficult. Las Vegas is one of the few places in the United States where you can probably hold an urban race, the mentality is different there. New York is a wonderful place, but it’s hard to believe they’re going to close Central Park for us.

New York has been organizing, while waiting to perhaps host F1 one day, Formula E ePrix since 2017. This year the race will take place in July.
