The price category of electric bikes varies from market bikes under 1000 euros to brand bikes worth several thousand euros. How much does a consumer have to pay if they want a high-quality and reliable electric bike and what features should be taken into account when purchasing an electric bike?
Does battery power matter?
Bike maintenance specialist Jorma Ylkoski says that the first thing to pay attention to in an electric bike is the battery power.
– The first question of a customer purchasing an electric bike is usually how long the battery will last. The battery is often the most expensive part of an electric bike, so you should pay special attention to it when choosing a bike model. A good battery has high-quality cells and a sufficiently large capacity, which means a long operating range. However, battery life is not the only aspect that should be paid attention to.
– When choosing a bike, you should also focus on the quality of the battery and electrical system and make sure that the seller is able to offer maintenance and spare parts in the future as well. – For example, expensive air-suspended bows offer their real advantage only to active enthusiasts, and ordinary everyday people who make trips on asphalt and dirt roads do not get significant added value from them. It is better to use the same money for additional battery capacity, for example.
Ylikoski says that you can get a reliable electric bike for less than 2,000 euros.
– In everyday use, the most important things are ease, reliability and a sufficiently large-capacity battery, which enables several days of everyday driving without intermediate charging.
