This was stated on the air of “Awake” by Vladimir Ivanov – Chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.
According to him, at the moment things have normalized and the difference in the consumer basket compared to the same period last year is BGN 7. “Champions” in rising prices are gherkins, cucumbers and peppers – by about 50%. The main reason for this is the small harvest and the bad climate.
It is not possible to have drastic increases in this competitive environment. The price of the oil is falling on both the European and world markets. We have a good year in terms of harvest, and in Bulgaria the grain sector has an overharvest.
We should be proud of our grain sector. Not only is there no room for tales like “drastic”, “apocalyptic”, but on the contrary. We have every reason to expect a downward trend.
Maybe there will be some retention of the price, I guess that in a not very long period we will see a downward trend in price, “said Ivanov.
According to him, the increase in the price of bread will not be what is expected, but there will be an increase. The reason for this is a change in the cost of labor in the sector.
