The flow to the guest houses in our country has not stopped, as they have always been preferred since the pandemic. This is a product that is sold 6-7 months ahead, commented Pavlina Ilieva – chairwoman of the association “Future for Tourism”, according to the Bulgarian National Radio.
“The probability of finding a vacant guest house in December is almost zero, so any such offer that appears on the market at the moment must be very well checked,” Ilieva warned.
The future of tourism is difficult to predict, as we all expected the pandemic situation to last shorter. Outbound tourism has been banned by the European Parliament for a year, which is why we have seen such a huge decline in 2020, the expert said.
“Bulgarians have always had a holiday – summer and winter, which is good for us as a business, because people do everything possible to make one of these two trips,” she explained.
The biggest blow to business comes from abroad – large markets such as Britain, Germany, Russia are currently closed to travel to us, which is a problem for large hotels.
“The industry is starting to adjust to the new situation, as well as customers, which has completely changed the attitude and proposals for travel. To our delight, I would say that the industry is rapidly moving to countries where travel is easier from the point of view that it is done with very clear rules that are in a very long period of time, “she explained.
For Bulgarians, Bulgaria remains the most preferred destination. A year and a half after the first wave of covids, there are more opportunities for insurance and measures. Many of those who want to travel have already been vaccinated.
More than 7,000 flights around the world have been canceled due to the spread of Omicron, she recalls.
“People who travel are currently headed to the Maldives, Egypt, Dubai, the Dominican Republic – there is a very serious volume of flights that will be performed. As these are charter flights that depend on the Bulgarian side, this gives us little calm, unlike what we see in the United States, “said Pavlina Ilieva.
