“My works have the most unimaginable states of the soul in which I comment on people and situations. In my expression, it is poetry rather than prose, because while working I break away from pragmatic tasks and follow the subconscious, ”says Māris Čačka.
“Neurotic pathways is a lyrically stylized concept from the dictionary of neuroscience, which forms a link between Māris Čačka ‘s images and contemporary challenges – the incomprehensible flow of information. Our ancient brains that made us human, thanks to the tendency to perceive as well unimportantcontinues to do so today, but in the age of technology, the flow of information is becoming disproportionate and so is it emits our minds. Māris Čačka basically creates portraits and dedications in the area between painting and graphics, but the form is not figurative or even abstract. He instinctively grasps the scattered substancebut does not cling to it a man or a symbol, he sticks to that thickened only enough to make visible imprints on the canvas or paper. There is another speed in Māris Čačka’s works – the self-movement of form seems much faster than in realism and abstraction, ”says the curator of the exhibition Inga Šteimane.
