Opens in Liepāja an exhibition that collects records with the music of Raimonds Paul
Raitis Pavlovičs, the owner of the “Vinilkoks” music hall, has been collecting records released by Latvian and foreign musicians for several years. One of the largest collections is related to the works of composer Raymond Paul.
Rait Pavlović’s collection contains almost all released records with the composer’s music – starting with the 78 rpm shellac record released in 1957 with Raymond Paul’s composition “Lēnā rumba”, the single “Dāvāja Māriņa vai 1,000,000 roses pink” by the singer Tokito Kato, released in Japan in 1987 performance, the performance of the song “Anno Domini”, which gained great popularity in 1984, by the singer Don Marco.
The collection includes discs with the Maestro’s music, which were released in the USA, England, Australia and other countries with the help and support of exiled Latvians. Many domestic and foreign musicians have included Raymond Paul’s songs in their record releases. Currently, there are more than 180 records in the collection. Most of the records are autographed by the Maestro. Raitis Pavlovičs is also creating a catalog of Raymond Paul records, which will be available to all interested parties early next year.
On the other hand, photographer Aigars Hibneris, known as the master of photography of the Liepaja theatre, has documented many concerts, rehearsals and even behind the scenes of Raimonds Paul in Liepaja concert halls. One of the largest collections of photographs was taken at Raimonds Paul’s 75th anniversary concert “City of Storms and Amber Coast” in the grand arena of Liepāja Olympic Center and the summer 2022 concert in the concert garden “Pūt vējini” .
On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, there will be a meeting with the author of the book “Raimonds Pauls – sounding and present” Liu Guļevska. Raymond Paul’s songs will be performed by musician Edgars Silacérps.
The exhibition “Composer Raimonda Paula’s work on records and photos from concerts in Liepāja concert halls” will be exhibited from January 7 to 31 in the exhibition hall of the Latvian Society of Liepaja.
