As the market is lately, where fast consumption, portability and accessibility prevail, more and more companies are taking the leap not only with small applications, but with complete and functional games for mobile devices, such as tablets or phones. Blizzard’s own Hearthstone is proof of that. But what if the hero-shooter is the one who makes the jump?
Apparently, reviewing the job offers and positions applied for by Blizzard, it would be one consistent in being Manager, Community Developmet to expand the Overwatch franchise. Was it perhaps a port, or another adapted game system?
Blizzard would be looking, according to the announcement, a development manager to lead the Overwatch community team. Someone with deep knowledge of what it takes to grow, engage and build gamer communities on a global scale, and “is passionate about developing a team of player-focused community professionals needed to meet the needs of the product and the community.” They also emphasize that the most important thing is that they appreciate the importance of player confidence and always put the player at the center of their thinking. We also know all this because the previous Community Lead, Molly Fender Ayala, He no longer holds this position, so everything seems to indicate what we are talking about.
What clue does Blizzard give about watching Overwatch on mobile devices?
If we carefully review the job application On the official Blizzard page, we can see that one of the requirements to access the position is the following (translated into Spanish): “Experience working on mobile games, managing and growing mobile gaming communities.”
But this is not the most curious thing! Just when we were writing this article (no other media has noticed this), Blizzard has updated the requirements for the position and has eliminated this requirement by just staying online for hours. Has it been published by mistake? Have you realized that you would be giving great clues to where the franchise is headed?
It seems somewhat suspicious that they causally eliminated that section and no other. Although obviously we do not have the absolute truth that the Overwatch development team is working to launch the game on these types of devices, It is undeniable that this requirement in the job application is at least curious.
In addition, it is not the first time that Blizzard has mentioned that the different teams are working on various projects within each franchise, including for mobile devices. Whether it is true or not (we would bet it is), unfortunately we will not leave doubts until the arrival of BlizzConline in the month of February.
