An evening to discover owls in Arona

An evening dedicated to discovering the secrets and listening to the birds of prey of the night together with Marco Mastrorilli, one of the leading experts in the world of owls. The appointment is Saturday 22 August at 21:00 in Piazza San Graziano in Arona, near the bookshop La stanza di Vincent.

The evening will begin with a lecture by Marco Mastrorilli (ornithologist, writer and guide Aigae) and Raffaella Maniero. During the conference they will also present their new book “Il volo abdito”, Noctuabook editions. Participation is free.

Immediately after, at 10 pm, we will leave for a guided night excursion in the Lagoni di Mercurago nature reserve. Participants led by Marco Mastrorilli will thus be able to listen to the different songs of the birds of prey of the night. Born in Milan, now living in Parma, Marco Mastrorilli specializes in the research and study of the ecology of nocturnal birds of prey. Writer, naturalist and environmental hiking guide, he has written 23 books and collaborated with numerous sector publications as well as newspapers and periodicals. In 2015 in Minnesota he was awarded by the Global Owl Project the Special Prize as the best owl expert in the world for that year and he joined the prestigious World Owl Hall of Fame, the only Italian.. Creator and artistic director of the Owl Festival and the Cat Festival. In his life he accompanied over 15,000 people at night to show and hear owls and learn about Owlwatching. He has won several national and international literary prizes, among them the first prize of Naturalistic Literature Parco Majella. Guest in many radio and television broadcasts (Geo, Uno morning, Sereno variable, Tg5, Tg1…). He created a YouTube channel entirely dedicated to owls called Gufotube (link).
