Verl (gl) – A contemplative evening full of music – the choir “Anklang” of the Protestant parish of Verl had invited. Around 100 guests accepted the invitation despite the rather uncomfortable weather and, according to a statement, experienced an unusually illuminated Church of the Redeemer and a powerful choir.
Lights distributed in the church
The singers entered the church singing and handing out lights to the guests. They took the opening canon “Take the light and pass it on” quite literally, so that the lights spread further through the church interior and contributed to the atmospheric atmosphere.
After a short welcome by Pastor Jens Hoffmann, choir director Iris Kleinebekel led through the varied program with lively interim moderation. In addition to a few Christmas carols such as “Angels Carol” by John Rutter, the main focus was on God’s light for us humans, which should provide support and orientation.
Finally, a common canon
The concert culminated in the canon “Dona nobis pacem – Give us peace” sung together with all the guests, an infinitely important wish in addition to light and protection in these troubled days.
During the subsequent get-together in the community hall, there was a lively exchange and many beautiful moments over snacks and drinks.
