“I haven’t really talked to anyone about what happened that day, and it’s still very painful for me,” Patalov said. “I’ve shared with my family how horrific that day was, and I thank God every morning that I’m still alive. I sometimes I feel guilty about it because I survived but others didn’t. What happened to me lasted maybe 18 hours, but for others the pain continues. Patalov said: “Matan bought some tickets and we went to the music festival with my friend Mai. I did think it was weird to hold an event so close to the Gaza border, and rockets would fly from time to time. Yes. But I think the organizer must think it’s safe.”

However, it is not. Patalov was awakened by an air raid siren on his mobile phone at 6:30 a.m. on the 7th. So they chose to abandon the car and run away, and then reportedly managed to escape in a thrilling manner by taking a ride from a good Samaritan.
