As part of its artistic and educational season, the Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole conservatory, in partnership with the municipality of Soler, is offering an “epic” concert. Thursday November 21 at 7 p.m. at the François-Calvet cultural space. Great student musicians from the Brass band, under the direction of Paule Brana, with the support of students in Contemporary Music, will offer a program giving pride of place to the soundtracks of major spectacle films. The Brass band, with its forty musicians and its particular instrumentarium, lends itself particularly well to epic melodies, brass cavalcades and explosions of percussion, which constitute the essential soundscape for films with major spectacles. Here he joins Musiques nouvelles to perform scores written by Hans Zimmer (Pirates of the Caribbean, Da Vinci Code, Inception, Gladiator), James Horner (Avatar), and music taken from the albums of Thomas Bergersen, co-founder of the production company Two steps from hell, specializing in classical epic music. Associated with the projection of images evoking some of the greatest cinematic successes of recent years, the brass and percussion instruments of the Brass band will offer you an epic evening in the company of solo singers and several amplified instruments.
Free concert, reservations on crr-perpignanmediterraneemetropole.frin the “Cultural season/ticket sales” section.
I would be delighted to create an interview with the two guests about the upcoming concert at Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole conservatory.
Guest 1: Director of the Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole conservatory
Guest 2: Lead conductor of the Brass band
**Section 1: The Significance of the Event**
Since the concert involves both the Brass Band and Contemporary Music students, could you discuss the importance of collaboration between different branches of music education and how it contributes to the overall development of young musicians?
Guest 1: Absolutely! Collaboration between different branches of music education is crucial for our students’ growth as artists. By working together, they learn new techniques, styles, and approaches that they can incorporate into their own work. Moreover, it helps them understand the importance of teamwork and communication, which are essential skills in the music industry. We believe that this concert will be a unique opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and creativity while also learning from each other.
Guest 2: I agree with Director Guest. Working with students from different musical backgrounds not only introduces them to new styles and genres, but also challenges them to think outside of the box. It’s inspiring to see how each student contributes to the overall sound and performance, and I’m honored to be a part of this collaborative effort.
**Section 2: Choosing the Repertoire**
The concert will feature music from major films’ soundtracks. How did you choose the specific pieces to be performed, and what made them stand out?
Guest 1: The choice of repertoire was a collective decision involving both the conductor and the students. We wanted to select pieces that were both epic and memorable, with strong melodies and emotional depth. The films chosen have had a significant cultural impact and are well-known worldwide, making them ideal for this type of concert.
Guest 2: Additionally, we wanted to choose music that would showcase the Brass band’s unique instrumentarium and its ability to produce powerful, dynamic sounds. The blend of brass and percussion instruments, along with the addition of vocals and amplified instruments, will create an unforgettable experience for the audience
