Aubiet Modelisme and its president, Joël Rigaud, could not really keep to the schedule they had planned. The Covid upset all their projects. However, to try to catch up with the black year 2020, the meetings should have been linked one after the other in 2021: a second edition of Briqu’Expo, a model fair for a third time and finally a scholarship dedicated to collectible toys.
We had to do our best to try to save this year 2021. Suddenly, Aubiet Model Making participates, for the first time, in the Heritage Days, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September.
This will give the opportunity to make a detour through the small town of Lussan where the association occupies a room of 60 m². For some, this may seem a very reasonable area but to install train circuits, it is a different kettle of fish. If trains are now finally running on good rails, the current circuit completely fills the available space.
However, the association has “inherited” a circuit of miniature trains… with 400 meters of rails. And since then trots in the head of Joël Rigaud, a project that some might find a little crazy. But, no, in Montauban, another tried it and he succeeded since you can visit this Toy Museum, open since 2016.
Aubiet Modélisme, at the start of course, is an association oriented “model making” since Joël Rigaud is a passionate model railroader. However, the dedicated members of his association – and they are numerous, if you make the detour through Lussan, you will meet them – and himself, over the course of their encounters, have built up a very impressive collection of toys. It deserves to be exhibited, so creation of a Museum solely devoted to miniature rail, or specialized in model making of all kinds or more broadly oriented toys?
It is this embryo of a museum that children, but also adults, will be able to come and discover during Heritage Days, on two different sites, the former school of Lussan transformed into a permanent station since the train circuits are permanently installed there. and the village hall which, for the occasion, will become an ephemeral toy museum.
Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Outside of this weekend, those who are interested can go to the association’s premises in Lussan every Saturday afternoon. However, it is preferable to make contact beforehand by calling the 06.07.34.35.85.
Next meeting on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September, at the village hall in Aubiet, for a battle between Lego and Playmobil. The outcome is uncertain but the adventure should attract a crowd of budding fighters, or perhaps even adult participants.
