Fabricanova, a key player in the local circular economy
Created in September 2020 with the support of Métropole Grenoble-Alpes, Fabricanova is a cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC). Her goals ? Better value waste and encourage local social and solidarity economy initiatives. La Scic for this purpose brings together several actors of the circular economy: the Marianne workshops, Cycles & Go, Ecomat38 or even the Ulisse Grenoble Solidarity resource centers.
Fabricanova’s ephemeral store thus sells many objects intended for reuse, recovered and transformed. For two months, clothes, bags, furniture, decorative objects but also bicycles and materials from a deconstruction site in La Tronche occupy the local Pop’up République. This “In parallel with the classic points of sale of associations”, specifies Jean-Jérôme Calvier, executive director of the Ulisse group.
Combine circular economy and social and professional reintegration
“This ephemeral store is a very concrete example of a policy of integration through employment”, underlines Christophe Ferrari, president of Grenoble-Alpes Métropole. The objects offered by Fabricanova are indeed sorted, worked and transformed by people excluded from the labor market. La Scic also entrusts the sale to employees in professional reintegration. “Working in a shop in the city center allows them to discover another type of clientele”, specifies Jean-Jérôme Calvier.
In addition, the Grenoble-Alpes Metropolis plans to bring together the know-how of various companies in the social and solidarity economy, including Fabricanova, in a future industrial hall called the “Olympic Site”. A place of collection, repair, reconditioning and reuse of objects of all kinds whose activities should start in mid-2022. “We strongly believe in the development of the circular economy and wish to engage our fellow citizens in this process”, says Christophe Ferrari.
