COMMUNITY. Being confronted with illness and human distress is far from a cakewalk for the healthcare workers at the Granby Hospital, who have already been tested by the vagaries of the pandemic for nearly 24 months. To help them get through their long shift, a relaxation cabin Recharjme is now within their reach.
Set up in the Hospital’s employee lounge, the new energizing attraction allows staff to clear their minds during a twenty-minute relaxation session. Using a mobile app, a healthcare worker can book their down time at a time that suits them.
Once inside the cabin, the employee relaxes comfortably in a “zero gravity” chair that helps relieve tension while offering the impression of floating. The rest station developed by the Quebec startup Recharjme also includes a range of options: music therapy, massage therapy, light therapy, guided meditation, thermotherapy and aromatherapy.
“With Recharjme, the idea is to create an immersive atmosphere in which the user will forget himself, forget his workload and his daily worries most of the time in the form of a nap or relaxation. After this session, the person is generally more energized and more relaxed when they return to work,” explained the vice-president of Recharjme, Timothée Régnier.
“A lot of people use it during their break, but we have more and more users who are going to isolate themselves in the cabin before returning home. The goal is to forget the problems experienced at work during the day, especially in the health network, and to arrive home with a lighter spirit,” added the company spokesperson. .
To date, no less than 189 relaxation sessions have been booked by Hospital employees.
“The Recharjme cabin greatly exceeded my expectations. Not only is the chair more than comfortable, but the various options made me forget for a moment that I was even in the hospital. I came away refreshed, calm and relaxed. I sincerely believe that it will be more than beneficial and appreciated by the employees”, mentioned Amélie Dufour Choquette, licensed practical nurse at the Granby Hospital.
To finance this pilot project, the Fondation du Center hospitalier de Granby (CHG) was able to count on In Memorian donations from Dr. Karine Dion and on the sale of the sweater. Human initiated by Mrs. Dufour Choquette and Kool Apparel.
“The Foundation is extremely proud to contribute to this project, which is part of the desire to provide well-being and to show our gratitude to the highly dedicated hospital teams. This cabin will allow them to take a moment for themselves and disconnect. We sincerely hope that the project will continue and will provide benefits to employees of the Granby Hospital, CLSCs and CHSLDs in Haute-Yamaska,” said Suzanne Surette, Executive Director of the CHG Foundation.
