An email address from the town hall of Hyères hacked for the benefit of the presidential candidate, Eric Zemmour

It is an unusual e-mail sent on Sunday December 12 at 4:04 p.m. and 59 seconds that 62 recipients from the Hyérois educational world received. An email sent from an existing address of the communication department of the city of Hyères encouraging its recipients to join Eric Zemmour’s Reconquest party.

An electronic missive attributed to the presidential candidate’s campaign team and received by the management of primary and nursery schools as well as the principals of the colleges of the city of palm trees.

The town hall denounces a hack

It all starts with a first e-mail attributed to Diane Ouvry, presenting herself as the spokesperson for the Friends of Eric Zemmour received at the city’s communication department. In an article by France Info published on December 4, Diane Ouvry is presented as the one who takes care of writing email campaigns to encourage supporters to join and support Eric Zemmour. The initial email received at 12:57 p.m. (see photo) consists of an official photograph representing the candidate at the Villepinte meeting on December 5, the same photo that Eric Zemmour posted on his twitter account a week ago, and a link encouraging them to become a pioneer member of the Reconquest party.

It is on this link that two agents of the town hall would have clicked, according to the town hall, which would possibly have made it possible to recover the file of addresses of the Hyéroises schools and the sending of the second e-mail. This is a simple transfer of the content of the first from an internal address of the communication department to the schools of the city. “We realized this when some headteachers alerted us to what they had received” explains the town hall. Moreover, she sent an explanatory email during the day to the Hyérois educational world to inform them of this “phishing attack”.

The city of Hyères has decided to file a complaint.
