The match for this new trophy took place just over a month ago in Łódź. Back then, the Oilers were on top. The previous league season and the ORLEN Polish Cup also ended with their victory.

Industria Kielce will play on Sunday on the territory of the Polish champion. In recent years, duels at the Orlen Arena have not been easy. But fans remember the March clash, in which their favorites won easily 34:29. And there are several analogies to that meeting. The first is the personnel situation of coach Talant Dujshebaev’s team. Today he is also devastated by injuries. Szymon Sićko and Alex Dujshebaev have been recovering from injuries for some time, Bekir Cordalija joined the injured group (about a month and a half break after breaking the metacarpal bone), Igor Karacić and Benoit Kounkoud did not play in Thursday’s Champions League match against SC Magdeburg. The second analogy is the number of goalkeepers. In March, coach Dujshebaev had two of them at his disposal, the same ones – Sandro Mestric and Miłosz Wałach. Back then, Kielce’s goalkeepers were gamechangers, and their good disposition allowed them to build an advantage. Another one is Dylan Nahi’s unusual position. Back then he was a corner player, today he even plays in the middle.

On Thursday in the Champions League, Industria Kielce won away against SC Magdeburg 27:26. This is an important victory not only for the table (promotion to fourth place and equal number of points with Germany and HBC Nantes), but also from a psychological point of view. The Kielce team won on difficult terrain against a very good team that had previously defeated them in the final and quarterfinals of the Champions League. – We are back to winning ways – said the second coach Krzysztof Lijewski after the match. The Płock team also played in Germany – against Fuechse Berlin. Their match also ended with a one-goal advantage, but for the Foxes. The Oilers did not win a single point in the European competition.

In addition, strong and aggressive defense, each player knows their tasks, this is another important element of the game. They are developing every year and it is positive for us, but also for Polish handball, that we have a team like Orlen Wisła Płock in the Polish league and the Champions League – describes Sunday’s opponents, Industria Kielce coach Talant Dujshebaev. – This is an opponent we know very well. Of course, now they are ahead of us in terms of winning trophies, they play in front of their own audience, but most of our players know the taste of winning in Płock, so we know what we can do and what we have to do – adds Artsem Karalek, player of the Kielce team. A group of fans from Kielce are also going to Płock and will support their players for the entire 60 minutes.
