The Liège correctional court decided on Friday to seek the opinion of a service specializing in the treatment of sex offenders before rendering its judgment in the case of a 32-year-old Verviet resident prosecuted for acts of incitement to debauchery on three underage girls. The case will be reviewed on March 25.
The defendant, a specialized educator active in a boarding school in Liège, is suspected of inappropriate behavior towards the young girls under his supervision. The facts would have taken place in 2018 and 2019 in a boarding school on the outskirts of Liège. The investigation had shown that the defendant would have abused his position of educator appreciated to try to get closer to certain young girls.
The file evokes an attraction of the defendant towards three young blond girls with blue eyes and exchanges of messages which are assimilated to attempts to flirt. Via social networks, the defendant would have offered to join the young girls in their room, to go to the hotel, to invite them to eat or to practice massages.
The prosecution had requested against him a 10-month prison sentence with a probationary suspension and a ban on practicing in the education sector. In order to assess whether the accused is able to submit to any probationary conditions, the court decided to seek the opinion of a service specializing in the treatment of sex offenders. The case will be reviewed on March 25.
