An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Ritter scale was registered on Saturday in Buzau county, in the Vranca seismic zone in eastern Romania, the National Institute of Earth Physics reported.
The quake was registered at 07:42 local time. The epicenter is at a depth of 144 km. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Romania is a country with increased seismic activity. Earthquakes are regularly registered there. In the month of December alone, 14 earthquakes were recorded with magnitudes from 2 to 4.1 on the Richter scale. The strongest earthquake of this year, with a magnitude of 5.4, occurred in our northern neighbor on 3 November.
