Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) announced, on Monday, that an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale had occurred in Hatay, southern Turkey, and was felt in Syria, Lebanon and Egypt.
At the same time, the National Center for Seismology in Syria announced, through its Facebook account, that the stations of the Syrian National Network recorded an earthquake measuring 6 degrees on the Richter scale.
This came about two weeks after the devastating earthquake that occurred on February 6, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale, killing tens of thousands in Turkey and Syria.
“We are continuing our investigations after the new earthquake in Hatay, and we call on our citizens to move away from the damaged buildings,” the official Turkish news agency, “Anatolia,” quoted Turkish Vice President Fuad Aktay as saying.
