The magnitude 5 earthquake hit 9.76 kilometers underground, according to the Emergency Management and Disaster Management Authority (AFAD).
The Bosphorus University, the Kandilli Observatory and the Earthquake Research Institute, on the other hand, said the quake was 8.1 kilometers deep.
