An avant-garde daily podcast for JP Bertrand

When he was asked to host a new podcast in November, Jean-Philippe Bertrand never hesitated to accept. However, he took the time to think about the format and the content to make it big, but above all to offer unique content.

The former host of the morning show “Les Partants” on the TVA Sports channel listened to many “podcasts” available in Quebec and he quickly realized that there was no sports news bulletin in the form of ‘a daily podcast in Quebec.

Result: the podcast “La Dose”, produced by TVA Sports. The show, available on the QUB Radio website and on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, will take the form of a 30-minute daily available from Monday to Friday.

“What we’re going to do is write a commented newsletter,” Bertrand explained on Tuesday. I’m going to put my sauce that I developed in “Les Partants”. So it’s as much a newsletter as an opinion show. Our formula is quite unique in Quebec. ”

Answer to a need

For the host, another element was also very important: he wanted to join people in the morning, in order to give them their dose of sports news to start their day well. Hence the name of the show.

“I woke up one morning, and I was like, ‘what do I need in the morning?’ I need a cup of coffee and my dose of sporting news, and we are mainly targeting morning customers who get up, who go to work, in public transport, in the car, or to work from home. “

To make the project possible, Bertrand and his team – made up of producer Martin Dion and Xavier Julien in technique – must therefore record late at night to make the podcast available during the night.

Not just hockey

While it is obvious that hockey and the Montreal Canadiens will have pride of place at this new meeting, no sport will be left out. And to comment on the news, experts from the TVA Sports channel, as well as guests from the sports world, will speak to “JP”.

“The Frédérique Guays, Andy Mailly-Pressoir and Marc-André Perreault will be involved. We will also have match descriptors, such as Denis Casavant and Sébastien Goulet. Félix Séguin will also come and take his turn. We are going to get to know our work colleagues, ”Bertrand revealed in particular.

The project is also in its infancy and will be enhanced in the coming weeks. In particular, a column will be added to the “JiC” program on the TVA Sports channel at 6:45 pm, then interviews, in the form of an “extra dose”, will be periodically available, in addition to each daily episode.

“These will be long-term interviews. It will be a little extra to the daily dose, ”concluded Bertrand, while saying he was very proud of his avant-garde project.
