The Austrian company SC Porr Construct has awarded a contract worth nearly 308 million lei, to increase the operational capacity of the infrastructure of the Henri Coandă International Airport (AIHCB), announced on Tuesday by the National Society of Bucharest Airports (CNAB), quoted by Agerpres.
This is CNAB’s largest investment contract in the past 10 years.
On Tuesday 6 December 2022, CNAB signed the contract for the “Arrangement of the AIHCB movement area in order to increase operational capacity and ensure compliance with the provisions of Reg. 139/2014 – Phase I”. The investment is aimed at large-scale works on several aircraft taxiways: November, Papa, Victor, Whisky, Charlie, as well as platform No. 2 – at the existing site and extension of the Delta taxiway.The works will increase the operational capacity of the airport Henri Coandă, to optimize the operating conditions of the aircraft on the taxiways, as well as to increase the number of parking places”, according to a CNAB press release sent to Agerpres.
The contract, worth 307.968 million lei, excluding VAT, comprises design and support services worth 18.227 million lei and actual execution works worth 289.741 million lei.
According to the source cited, the execution works will be completed in 24 months and will have a record guarantee of 109 months.
The works are part of the strategy of compliance with the applicable certification specifications for the operating conditions at AIHCB, envisaged by European Union Regulation no. 139/2014 of the European Commission regarding the definition of technical requirements and administrative procedures relating to airports.
The National Society of Bucharest Airports has already started the steps to complete Phase II of the modernization and operational capacity increase of the Henri Coandă Airport infrastructure, which also aims at extensive works on the runways Alpha, Bravo, Golf, as well as on the modernization and expansion of Platform no. 1 and Platform no. 2 to the south.
