The FITUR International Tourism Fair closed the doors of an edition yesterday in which the city of Almería has once again been the protagonist for its undoubted natural, cultural, gastronomic attractions …, and for something especially significant this year: being a safe destination , as has been certified, through the ‘Safe Tourism’ seal, by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE) which, together with five other municipalities, has recognized us for our effort to turn the municipality into a safe space against Covid, The award received by the mayor, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, from the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto. If FITUR has always been one of the most relevant meetings in the sector, this year it has been even more so because we are progressively recovering normality, even if it is a normality of masks and distances, and a summer is expected where there will be mobility, which will mean the reactivation of tourism.
You have to be positioned and I think we have taken advantage of the Fair very well, where we have presented the promotional campaign ‘If you have to start, let it be with the A of Almería’, with which from the Almería City Council we want to claim not only our leading role as sun and beach destination, an offer inherent to this city, but also cultural, gastronomic, leisure and sports. And what better than our city for those travelers who are now looking for a quiet destination without overcrowding, within the philosophy of ‘slow’ tourism.
We have supported companies in the sector; We have held work meetings, for example, with AENA to promote the airport and attract more visitors; we have renewed the agreement with the Movelia platform to facilitate the arrival of tourists by bus; We have also been with the president of the Spanish hoteliers, José Luis Yzuel, a sector very affected by the crisis, and, of course, we have participated in the presentation of the Costa de Almería destination, with two luxury ambassadors such as David Bisbal and Eugenia Martínez de Irujo that have shown the world the secrets of our seabed. Because our tourist offer is attractive, safe and global.
