Performance of the newest title of the ballet troupe of the Burgas Opera – “Corsair” you will be able to see on August 26 at 8:30 p.m on the open stage in Primorsky Park of Burgas. The performance is the penultimate of the program of Burgas Music Festival “Emil Chakarov”, carried out for the seventeenth time in a row by State Opera – Burgas and Municipality of Burgas.
The ballet is set to music by Adolphe Adam, César Puni, Leo Delibe, Riccardo Drigo, Piotr Oldenburgski, choreography by Marius Petipa, Joseph Mazile, Konstantin Sergeev, libretto by Jules-Henri Vernois de Saint-Georges, based on the poem “The Corsair ” by George Byron. The staging and direction are by Galina Kalcheva, the scenography – of Ivan Tokadzhiev.
The attractive large-scale production will offer a real stage spectacle – both in terms of scenography and costumes, as well as direction and artistic presence. The audience will be drawn into the dizzying plot with exotic elements in which love, jealousy, insidious plans for revenge are woven, and above all the apotheosis of true feelings is asserted, having passed through insidious undercurrents and reefs, unfurling its sails boldly to lead the ship of love on the high seas – where happiness is visible on the horizon.
The production of “Corsair” is colored by strong emotions, experienced by performers, creators who created the splendor of the stage, audience and all the professionals who worked for it, who were fully devoted to the birth process of the new title in the repertoire of the Burgas Opera.
The solo composition of “Corsair” will be top notch again. On August 26 on the stage of the Summer Theater brilliant soloists will perform: the prima ballerina of the Burgas Opera Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova – as Medora, the beloved of the pirate Conrad. The soloist of the ballet company Teodor Tsakov, winner of this year’s award on the occasion of May 24 for high achievements in the field of culture from the mayor of the Municipality of Burgas – Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, enters the image of the noble pirate Konrad, who knows how to love gently and cruelly punishes treason with dignity.
Daniel Tichkovpremier ballet dancer of the State Opera – Burgas, will play the role of Konrad’s faithful servant – Ali. A whirlwind role is coming again for the soloist of the ballet company Kiril Filipov – in the complex image of Birbanto, as often happens in life – insidiousness under the guise of friendship. An exciting debut in the role of Gulnara, Medora’s friend, lies ahead for the young ballerina Ilina Konstantinova. The Japanese ballet dancer will make another debut at the upcoming performance – in the role of Linkedem Haru Nakagawawho recently joined the ballet troupe.
It will be extremely fun again Jordan Hristozovsoloist of the opera troupe, in the unusual role of the characteristic role of a lustful nobleman – Said Pasha. In the temperamental role of Zyulma, it will do Rafaela-Maria Kuhl, which will be in an impressive stage tandem with Kiril Filipov – Birbanto. Magical odalisques, as if materialized from the tales of Scheherazade, will be: Nanako Sato, Yana Berdut /soloist of the troupe/ and Vasilena Todorova. The choreography and direction of “Corsair” are on Galina Kalcheva. The long-time prima ballerina of the Burgas Opera already has other titles in her portfolio as a director – “Don Quixote”, “Giselle”, “Pahita” and “The Badly Protected Girl”, they contain original elements and a staging approach, combines the canons of classical ballet with innovative scenographic decisions of Ivan Tokadzhievin which decors overflowing with multimedia effects were woven in a visual sense.
Rehearsers of the ballet ensemble are the director Galina Kalcheva and Marina Zmeeva-Markova. He is the assistant director of the production Peter Tikholov.
