France’s Homeland Security (Counterintelligence) Directorate has thwarted a coup planned by former Democratic Movement (Modem) MP Remy Deye, who was detained in late October on suspicion of carrying out attacks on vaccination centers and his supporters. Le Parisien newspaper.

Investigating Daye’s connections, government investigators found that he had created a “terrorist community” with a wide network of branches across the country. It consists of many active and retired police officers, gendarmerie and military, some of them abroad.

The newspaper cites the name of a 63-year-old retired lieutenant colonel named Christophe M., holder of the Order of Merit for France, founder and curator of the “military” wing of the movement, which had a strict hierarchy. According to the results of the analysis of the correspondence between the participants in the conspiracy, the investigators have identified at least 36 “captains”, each of whom is responsible for his region, reports “Focus”.

To date, 12 conspirators have been indicted in the case, but a number of other investigations also point to Daye’s links to other movements, including neo-Nazis, who planned an attack on a Masonic lodge in Alsace. In May this year, the court indicted three detainees in the case.

The former MP began particularly active propaganda of his views and calls for an uprising in France in late 2020, when he was hiding from French investigators in Malaysia on suspicion of organizing the abduction of an 8-year-old girl named Mia in the spring of that year. After gaining supporters, he began coordinating sabotage, particularly against the communication towers of the new 5G standard, as well as operations to intimidate journalists.

In April 2021, he emailed a number of French parliamentarians with slogans that “the republic is no longer the dominant idea”, “the hour of reckoning has come” and “the removal of [властта] from the people is inevitable. ” He also said in the letter that all this was a “matter of a few weeks” and that if there was no response from the recipient, he would be considered an “accomplice in the crimes”. Only one MP filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office, which led to an investigation.

By this time, Daye had already recruited several hundred supporters who were engaged in spreading conspiracy theories and were involved in acts of violence during the mass protests in France. The “captain” of a cell in the French capital’s Ile-de-France region, Sylvain P., for example, was featured in police reports of raids on the BFM building during the Yellow Vests protests in September 2020. Investigators said it was a “training “Before the real takeover of the media in the course of the alleged coup.

On the decisive day, Daye and his supporters plan to gather in Paris troops of like-minded people from all over the country, equipping them with police shields and improvised explosive devices. It was assumed that after a series of provocations, weapons would be used by the guards. This was supposed to be the reason for the conspirators to turn to bloodshed.

The second stage of Operation Lazur, as it is called in the organization, envisages the takeover of the Elysee Palace, the parliament buildings, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of the Armed Forces. At the same time, they hope to take over a TV channel or radio station to conduct their propaganda from there.

Daye’s lawyer, Jean-Christophe Bason Larby, said his department disputed all allegations of terrorism. “Remy Daye has called only from Malaysia for the peaceful and popular overthrow of the existing political system as part of the exercise of freedom of expression and conscience,” he said.
