An application has been submitted to Donegal County Council seeking permission to demolish the historic Kilmacrennan Parochial House, a 120-year-old former priests’ home adjacent to St Columba’s Church. It is not clear whether a replacement dwelling will be built, but it is believed that the house will make way for additional car parking spaces. The parochial house and the attached church are not on Donegal County Council’s Record of Protected Structures, but the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) previously reported the house to be in relatively good condition when it surveyed it in January 2011.
