An appeal was made to the judiciary to stop Germany’s arms exports to Israel

The urgent appeal was made by Palestinians in Gaza, who are demanding an immediate halt to arms shipments to Israel.

Speaking at the press conference held in Berlin on the subject, lawyer Ahmet Abed said that the people in Gaza had no time, so they made an urgent application to the court and wanted Germany’s arms shipment to Israel to be stopped.

Claiming that the weapons sent to Israel were used for violations of international law such as genocide and war crimes, Abed stated that they demanded that the German government protect the rights to life.

Abed emphasized that he could not name his clients for security reasons and said, ‘The situation in Gaza is catastrophic. ‘People are dying of hunger,’ he said.

Stating that his clients lost everything and lived in fear of death in Rafah, Abed continued as follows:

Germany must not support this war crime and end the danger of genocide. Germany has a constitutional responsibility to protect human life. Moreover, it has to cancel its arms exports because it is against international law. The German government cannot claim that it did not know this. The German government “He knows that war crimes are committed in Gaza every day.”

In his application to the court, Abed pointed out that Germany has a responsibility to prevent genocide and said, “Germany is among the actors in this regard by supplying weapons.”

Abed noted that they expect their application to be concluded soon.

Germany is the 2nd largest country supplying weapons to Israel after the USA

Dimitria Andritsou, Representative of Forensis, the sister organization of the London-based international research company Forensic Architecture, also said that Germany is the 2nd largest country supplying weapons to Israel after the USA.

Recalling that last year, the German government allowed the export of arms worth 326.5 million euros to Israel, Andritsou said, “Most of this figure occurred after October 7, 2023, and there is a 10-fold increase in arms exports compared to 2022. “October 7.” “In the first 26 days following 185 arms export permits were given,” he said.

It was noted that the European Legal Assistance Centre, the Palestinian Public Diplomacy Institute, the Law for Palestine and the Justice and Accountability Initiative for Palestine, and Forensis, the sister organization of the London-based international research company Forensic Architecture, supported those who filed criminal complaints.
