The day after a drowning in Mayenne, Saturday August 31, 2024, the gendarmerie published an appeal for witnesses, this Sunday September 1. It specifies that the victim, found “inanimate” in the river, is “still unconscious” and that “his identity could not be determined.”
The day before, she was taken care of by emergency services and transported to Laval hospital. According to the police, “his vital prognosis is engaged.”
Slim build, gray hair…
In the appeal for witnesses, the gendarmerie indicates that the victim is “a woman who appears to be about 70 years old.” She is described as “of slim build”, with “grey hair”, “height 1.57 m and weighs about 50 kg”.
At the time of drowning, she was wearing “a beige jacket size S, a blue t-shirt with a landscape, a scarf with a floral pattern, black leggings with a pink stripe at the waist, red S.Oliver shoes size 37, a chain with a Sagittarius medallion.”
The gendarmerie is calling on people with“information allowing him to be identified” to contact 17 or the Mayenne gendarmerie on 02 43 30 48 48.
Divers mobilized
The Mayenne brigade community is in charge of the investigation, aimed at determining the causes of the drowning and identifying the victim. Searches have taken place “all day long”, Sunday, “at the scene of the drowning and in the surrounding area, with a neighborhood investigation.”
Gendarmerie divers were notably hired to “to sound the river” searching for objects belonging to the victim that could identify them.
