The common man, seeing the clock ticking, would have put the items back on the shelves and returned to their homes. The individual arrested Monday, in the parking lot of a tool store, preferred, him, electronic bracelet screwed to the ankle, unpack the screwdrivers and hide them under his clothing. When the store’s staff noticed the merry-go-round, some tried to stop it. But the man fled and employees had to run after him.
Caught in the parking lot, blows are exchanged. Eventually overpowered by several security guards, he was handed over to the police officers. And taken to the police station. On him: equipment valued at around € 300.
Returned to prison
But the store staff had recognized him. A few days earlier, his little merry-go-round had been updated thanks to the video protection tapes. But he had managed to escape with the equivalent of € 1,500 in goods.
As the investigation progressed, he was accused of other thefts. He will have to answer to the court in early July. In the meantime, the leniency measure granted by means of the electronic bracelet was repealed and the man was sent back to prison.
